Welcome to what Random House has dubbed the "Silicon Valley Bleeding Edge Tour." Three authors—Kara Swisher, Po Bronson, and myself—will be traveling to seven cities to duke it out, debate style, in what our publisher is billing as "the McLaughlin Group of Silicon Valley." I’m the designated contrarian, the left-of-center critic who offers a different perspective than what you read when sifting through the daily offering of news stories from out of the Valley. Score the match for yourself! As a preview, you might want to check out the verbal jousting as we take turns filling out a daily tour diary. Click here for the Bleeding Edge Diary. Too, I’ll be doing three readings on my own, at Capitola Book Café in Capitola, CA; at Diesel: A Bookstore in Oakland; and at Cody’s Books in Berkeley. Capitola and Diesel take place in August, Cody’s in September. See below for the details.

"A fascinating and instructive story...a detailed, warts-and-all history of one of the greatest capitalist success stories of all time." -The New York Times "A book about a dream valley that kept me glued to my seat—laughing, sighing, shaking my head—while also leaving me with a deeper sense of the human energy and hubris that fuels America’s new entrepreneurial capital, Silicon Valley. A home run. -Ken Auletta "Two
of the writers I look to with tremendous interest are Richard Price and
Po Bronson…because they are so talented.
